AEGIS

Data Protection Platform

Protect • Verify • Recover

Is having a backup enough?

We didn't think so.

A backup has little value if it fails without anyone noticing, remains beside the infrastructure it is supposed to protect, becomes unusable, or cannot be restored when it is actually needed.

Aegis was created to address that problem.

Why we built Aegis

A successful file copy wasn't enough.

Critical systems were already producing backups. They needed another layer of protection: copies physically separated from the systems and infrastructure that created them, without adding unnecessary complexity or exposing additional production services.

More importantly, we wanted to know whether the process was actually working. Did the expected data arrive? Could it be validated? Could it be restored? Would we know when something stopped working?

Those questions became the foundation of Aegis.

Protect · Verify · Recover

01

Protect.

Move critical backup data away from the systems and physical location it protects. Source systems receive only the access required to deliver backups while protected storage remains separated from them.

02

Verify.

Establish that expected protection actually occurred. Logging, manifests, integrity checks, monitoring and recovery testing create multiple ways to build confidence that protected data exists and remains usable.

03

Recover.

Treat restoration—not completion of a copy operation—as the final measure of protection. Recovery is the reason Aegis exists.

The objective isn't “backup complete.”
The objective is recovery ready.

Protection flow

Aegis protection flow from protected systems through controlled transfer, verification and recovery to protected off-site storage

Built for real environments

Designed where production realities matter.

Aegis was developed in an operating production environment rather than as a theoretical backup exercise. Its architecture reflects segmented networks, limited trust between systems, legacy infrastructure, restricted connectivity, unattended operation and the need to add protection without disrupting production workloads.

New protected systems can be onboarded through a repeatable process, allowing Aegis to grow one workload at a time while maintaining a consistent security and operational model.

Recovery proven

Backup created→Protected off-site→Verified→Restored→Integrity tested

Database backups protected by Aegis have already been restored into test environments and subjected to database integrity checks. Recovery is not treated as an assumption; it is something the protection chain can demonstrate.

Where Aegis is going

CURRENT FOUNDATION

Protection with evidence.

Secure off-site protection, repeatable onboarding, protected storage, verification, monitoring and tested recovery establish the current foundation.

ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT

More visibility. More automation.

Development is focused on richer protection-status reporting, automated summaries, storage and retention intelligence, improved monitoring and alerting, historical protection trends, and increasingly automated verification and recovery testing.

PLANNED / AEGIS NOTIFY

Know what needs attention.

Aegis Notify is planned to provide concise operational reporting showing which systems were protected, whether verification succeeded, job duration, transfer activity and where attention may be required.

The questions that matter

Is my data protected?
Can I prove that it is usable?
Can I recover it when I need it?
